Every planet can be an initiator and Mars is no exception. In fact, the path Mars traces across the sky and its relationship with Earth and the Sun is in a category all by itself. In Shamanic Astrology, Mars represents the masculine principle and an actional initiator or force. We all have that within us to varied degrees and astrological signs. In this online course, you can learn to use this Mars initiator energy in your own life and on your own path.
With 6 classes plus bonus materials, you will be initiated into Pathseeker Mars in your own life, regardless of whether you find yourself in a personal Mars transit or not. Each class is designed to be part of the series of six to best develop your own relationship with Mars in the sky. Also, it is not necessary to be there live for each of the 6 classes plus bonus discussions.
While basic knowledge of astrology is helpful to take this course, it is not necessary. What is needed is an imagination and a desire to get to know yourself through a different kind of sky intitiation. This is about our personal journey and understanding our path.
The foundational elements of the material in this course were first developed by Daniel Giamario, who originated the Shamanic Astrology Paradigm. His perspective of synodic cycles has been revolutionary in understanding all of the astrological synodic cycles, including the cycle of Mars.
As Mars transits the sky, the red-orange planet meets constellations, planets and monthly meetings with the Moon. These meetings and encounters help us orient our personal compass and inform a mesaure of actions we can take along our path. As the facilitator in this series, I will be your guide along with Mars, Earth and the sky.
Each participant is invited to full participate with questions (whether LIVE on each of the classes or after the class) and sharings about their individual journey. While Mars is just one among several planets that guide us along our path, it can help in bringing in focus and clarity, depending upon the sign and its current placement in relation to other planets.
Between each of the 6 primary live classes spreadout between late November and August are Zoom discussion gatherings. These gatherings are designed to expand our understanding of Mars in astrology along with some bonus materials, including a discussion about the Venus-Mars meeting (and its corresponding dance together called a “saga”) in the evening sky in July/Aug of 2023 (not exact conjunction).

Class 1 – The Path Begins and Mars Acronychal Rise / Nov 29, 2022
The first class invites the participants to begin their journey across the sky and here on Earth. A brief introduction to the Mars cycle is shared. There will be a pre-recorded introduction to the Mars cycle that will be required to see before taking this first class. Astronomically, Mars has an opposition with the Sun about every 25-26 months or 2+ years. This is signal that the Mars Pathseeker has begun.
We will journey in how to find Mars in the sky, how to follow it as it retrogrades and what those points mean for us personally and collectively. We’ll also explore the sign of Gemini as Mars is spending seven months in that sign and in the constellation of the Bull and why this matters to us.
We will also have time to introduce ourselves and our own personal Mars positions. Everyone will be given a copy of their astrology natal chart along with several other materials to help navigate this course. I will also go over a few of those items durin this first course.
Class 2 – Seeing Ahead by Where We’ve Been / January 3, 2023
In order to fully understand and appreciate the journey ahead, we need to look back and see where we have been. As above, so below, meaning this is also what Mars is showing us. Since August 20th, Mars has been in the sign of Gemini and the Bull constellation. This impacts our lives along our path. In this class, we will explore how the past and the tracing of our steps can give us clues to where we could be headed.
Class 3 – The Gates of Duality / February 22, 2023
After Mars leaves the sign of Gemini, it crosses the June Solstice point (where the Sun would be at the start of summer in the North) and the Gates of Duality. Astronomically, this is where the Twins constellation resides and has shown since very ancient times the polarity complex within humanity and the world we live. I will guide those who have sign up for the course through these Gates of Duality.
We will also learn some myths and history about the Twins constellation and have a discussion of what duality is and its evolution into what is beyond it. Humanity is currently navigating its way through there, but there is much more territory to go. We will also look at where each person may fit into this and what it all means.
Class 4 – The Nest and Fiery Spirit / May 2, 2023
After crossing the Gates of Duality, Mars takes us into the Crab constellation and the “nest” at its center. This is an area of respite and rest. It is a time to gather ourselves and our inner resources before diving into the Fiery Spirit or the Lion constellation.
In this class, we will discuss these two constellations relative to Mars’ passage through them. What natal planets or points do we inidivdually have there? The two constellation are currently overlayed by the signs of Leo and Virgo and this is fertile region for the mysteries of the Sphinx and what we could be holding onto that needs to be let go.
Class 5 – The Dream of Earth / July 18, 2023
As Mars makes its way to the Priestess constellation, we meet with the Dream of Earth. This is the last stop for Mars before disappearing into the glare of the Sun in the evening sky. In the sky, the Priestess represents our intimate connection to the Earth and its seasonal pattern. It also brings us into a greater relationship with the Earth and the bounty she provides.
Mars’ passage into this area is overlayed by the sign of Libra and conscious, equal relationship/partnership. As humanity begins a long-winded but accelerated trek to becoming stewards of the planet again, tranists in the Priestess become more and more heightened. We can check into our own personal relationship with Earth and the relationship with ourselves in that context.
Class 6 – Q&A (August, 2023 exact date to be determined)
During this class, participants will get more time to ask questions and go over their Mars position in thie natal chart. We’ll also look at where along the story or initiation window/phase of Mars each person was born in. This is especially important when understanding our sacred marriage work between the masculine and feminine along with outer relationships. A preview of the stand alone “Mars in the Realm Under” class will be given.
