Our Sacred Hearth Within

Shamanic Astrologer Erik Roth uncovers the mysteries of the asteroid Vesta in astrology. Erik simplifies our understanding of utilizing this rich material of this asteroid (that is almost a dwarf planet in its own right and the ONLY asteroid we can see with the naked eye), its relationship pattern with the planet Saturn and how it can bring the “sacred” into our lives.

In this book, you will also discover what Vesta can mean for each sign and house position along with aspects of the various planets, including the lunar nodes and Chiron. As a bonus, there are insights about the other large asteroids of Ceres, Pallas Athena and Juno in astrology.

From Erik Roth:

In early 2013, when I noticed the massive Vesta returning extremely close to its original position in a friend’s birth chart on her twenty-ninth birthday, I challenged myself to learn the effects of Vesta’s twenty-nine–year cycle and whether other or longer cycles involving Vesta exist. Henceforth, I studied the mysteries of Vesta from a mythological perspective in Demetra George and Douglas Bloch’s landmark book, Asteroid Goddesses.

Beyond Asteroid Goddesses, there was little information in the astrology literature about Vesta. In 2011, NASA’s Dawn spacecraft began to collect the first close-up photos of this massive asteroid (and later, the dwarf planet, Ceres). In addition, my attention was riveted on certain synchronicities around the resonance of orbits between Saturn and Vesta related to discovering the sacred within us as we mature into adults that are vital to our spiritual growth and knowledge about ourselves and the universe around us.

In my research, I focused on the Vesta/Hestia archetype through works in psychology, mythology, and astrology by Carl Jung, James Hillman, Esther Harding, Robert Graves, Demetra George, and Ginette Paris, among others, as well as understanding Vesta’s synodic cycle (the asteroid’s relationship to the Sun from the perspective of observing it from Earth). A powerful theme was the concept of sacredness and the asteroid’s relationship with the planet Saturn in its orbit.

My earliest work on how Vesta and Saturn individually and in relationship to one another impact our lives was presented at the 2013 Shamanic Astrology Conference in Arizona. I then recorded two teleclasses (the first in cooperation with Cayelin Castell) for the Shamanic Astrology Mystery School centered on understanding the role Vesta plays in our lives. The classes can be found on the school’s website, shamanicastrology.com. In addition to results of my research and understanding of Vesta’s role in astrology and shamanic astrology, I presented selected details about the dwarf planet, Ceres, and the large asteroids, Juno, Pallas Athena, and Hygeia.
