In the early morning skies of Saturday, August 31, 2013 the waning crescent Moon will slowly drift by the expansive planet Jupiter in the east on its way to meeting the Sun. The actual conjunction between these two celestial bodies takes place at 8:45 am at about 14 degrees Cancer, but it will be close enough before sunrise to see the conjunction.

Jup-Moon Conj2 Aug 31 2013

Looking toward the east, you will see the Moon and Jupiter in the sign of Cancer, but in the constellation of the Twins (not the sign of Gemini) and to the right is Orion. It is an easily-identifiable part of the night sky with the stars Castor and Pollux to the left of Jupiter. This is also the area of the sky called the Galactic Extreme or Edge, opposite the Galactic Center, currently in the sign of Sagittarius.

This highlights the importance of emerging Mother archetype in this new age, redefining the Mother while the waning Moon is just entering its Balsamic phase (in Shamanic terms). The Balsamic phase is about death and rebirth, where the veil of the netherworld is more transparent, thereby allowing more freedom to move between worlds. Overall, the Water Trine continues it’s highly active state (with Saturn and Neptune in the 2 other water signs, Scorpio & Pisces, respectively) as more clues come in to refresh our path and knowledge with Earth Mother. In what state is our compassion and nurturing for others? How is family defined? How much are we giving and what are we sacrificing in order to do that giving? In those early morning hours before sunrise as the dream state becomes more lively, perhaps a time to contemplate to pose those questions and how affect they us personally? How are they expressed to those around us?
