With the coming annual meteor shower called the “Perseids”, it is good time to look at that constellation from which the meteor shower’s name is derived.

Near and above the Pleiades and constellation of the Bull (aka Taurus) is the constellation of Perseus.  This the area of the night sky that the meteors will be seen and where the legend and myth of the hero/champion Perseus saved Andromeda and defeated a great sea monster.  This is one of the hallmark stories of the age of the patriarchy where only the masculine energy can face and overcome fears and rescue the “helpless” feminine energy.  On his way to saving Andromeda, Perseus had to destroy the Medusa, one image of how the

patriarchy viewed women and the power embodied within the various archetypes of the feminine.  Perseus is a powerful symbol, among many others of how the patriarchy continued to ascend and maintain power in ancient Greece and throughout the Mediterranean and Middle Eastern regions a few thousand years ago.  It was age of heroes and heroes born to hold the patriarchy together and creating an illusion of separating themselves from the feminine principle.

Now, the Age of Heroes is long gone and the patriarchy is in a stage of transformation as the old structure erodes.  This transformation is to bring in a more conscious and equal path where neither the patriarchy nor matriarchy is the dominant force and that both the gods and goddesses rule side by side.  So when we cast our gaze to watch the cosmic pebbles fall into Earth’s atmosphere, we can be reminded of the crumbling patriarchy and the ascension of an evolved, dynamic and revolutionary people to fill the eventual void.
