Our next eclipse is a partial Full Moon eclipse or well-known as a lunar eclipse. This happens on October 28th at 05°09’ Taurus.

A lunar eclipse takes place when the Moon is about or within 10 degrees of one of the lunar nodes and the Sun is as well opposite the Moon. The closer they are to the nodes, the better the opportunity for a total lunar eclipse.

The eclipse is primarily visible from the Eastern Hemisphere of the Earth. Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia will all be able to experience all of this partial lunar eclipse. Only the NE part of Canada and the US will catch a glimpse of it in the Americas in the early evening of the 28th.

More on the astronomy of the this eclipse can be found here at Universal Workshop with astronomer Guy Ottewell: https://www.universalworkshop.com/2023/10/24/dodging-planets-clipping-a-shadow/

Astrologically, this eclipse is bringing awareness of Earth’s beauty and bounty for humanity and all life. Taurus helps us receive abundance and give to ourselves. For many of us that are givers, this can be a powerful lunar eclipse in teaching us to receive without the pressure of needing to give back and letting go of guilt.

The Full Moon will also be near Jupiter at the time of the eclipse but won’t actually conjunct Jupiter until late at night of the 28th (Pacific time) and middle of the night, early morning on the 29th (EDT and European time zones).

Jupiter will be 6 degrees from the Moon at the time of the eclipse, so Jupiter will have influence and expanding the impact of the eclipse metaphysically. Jupiter is a planet that tends to bring in abundance, expansion and spiritual questing motivation. If this eclipse is conjunct, square or opposite any personal planets or points on a given chart, the qualities shared above will be front and center.

But with any lunar eclipse, the shadow of the sign is illuminated too. Our relationships with abundance, convenience and many of us having anything delivered to us quickly has a price beyond the cost of the materials. This price relates to our relationship with Earth and her offerings. What adjustments can we make to be in greater balance with Gaia?

Lynda HIll writes about the Sabian Symbol of this eclipse degree. We add one to make it Taurus 6. It is about bridge-building and reaching across the river or street to remove barriers and solving challenges. It is about finding things in common in which to build something long-lasting.

I like this symbol in adding to the our relationship with abundance and convenience and receiving. When we have an idea of how it should be done, it is best to “feel” into it with greater mindfulness and less attachment to what we think the outcome can be.
