Venus and Mercury station direct in the sign of Capricorn within a week’s time of each other. For Venus, this takes place on January 29th and Mercury, on February 3rd. Venus will be at 11 degrees and Mercury at 24 degrees of Capricorn.

The closest example to when these two planets went direct close to each and in the sign of Capricorn (or Aquarius) was in 1982, when Mercury stationed direct on February 12th and Venus 2 days before on February 10th. They were only 10 degrees apart, Mercury at 3 degrees Aquarius and Venus, 23 degrees in Capricorn.

There is a lot of activity in the sign of Capricorn in January through early March, 2022. Mars recently entered the sign of Capricorn, signaling the next stage of the story with Venus. Vesta happens to be guiding us through the sacred repsonsibility of the Capricorn mystery school as well, only 2 degrees away from Venus at the time Venus stations direct.

In the early morning sky, Venus, Mars and Mercury will all be visible during this time. Venus and Mars are in the Archer constellation with Mercury rising a little later between the Goat Fish and Archer constellations. Venus will hang around the star Nunki, that connects us with the tension of the arm and shoulder taking a stable aim at the future, but balancing it just enough before releasing the tension.

Pluto has been in Capricorn since 2008 and 2022 marks its last year being in the sign the full calendar year. In 2023-24, Pluto splits its time between Aquarius and Capricorn. Pluto is anchoring the edge of the sign, setting up a potent time in late February and early March with a conjunction period of Mars, Venus, Vesta and Pluto in the late degrees of Capricorn.

Mercury and Venus going direct catalyze the a new forward momentum in our relationship with wisdom and knowledge. During their 1982 station points for direct motion, Pluto, Mars and Vesta were no where near Venus and Mercury. So this offers a new gravity of experience for humanity. As I’ve shared at times in the past, the essence of Capricorn symbolizes the qualities of giving through responsibility, building a foundation for a sustainable long-term future, sowing the seeds of knowledge, drawing in the widom of our ancestors and being thorough in descision-making processes.

Venus symbolizes the feminine principle with some archetypal resonance with the sign of Taurus and Mercury symbolizes the mind/communication/perception/thinking with some archetypal resonance with the sign of Gemini. These planets in Capricorn bring us to the nature of this potent time and our own responsibilty to future generations. Profit-margins can only take us so far. Our modern comforts and conveniences as well as our heavy reliance on electronics delivering nearly all knowledge available at nearly all times takes its toll on our health, the health of the planet and what we leave for our children and granschildren.

Grandmother wisdom through Capricorn can offer us patience and an obligation to manage our resources and knowledge in a more sustainable way. We can ask ourselves questions during this Capricorn period of time from late January to early March about what is truly important? We an inquire about what it takes to sustain a comfortable life but not to excess? Where do our responsbilities fall upon? Are we taking responsibility for what we are aligned with in our soul’s journey? How will it benefit the livability of future generations (not just to live but to thrive)?

Another astroligical factor is at this time in late January going into early February is Chiron’s square (in Aries) with Venus, Mars and Vesta in Capricorn. This square could play a role in increasing the tension in the worldand making for a potenitally volatile and intense period in February. The recent crisis in Ukraine has been amplified since Chiron went direct on December 19, 2021. This is impacting Venus’ own station-point at 11 degrees Capricorn with Vesta at 9 degrees Capricorn, nearly exactly square.

For Chiron in Aries, symbolizing the fracturing/wounding of wars and battles and completing missions at all costs, sacrificing for the victories, risk-taking and thrill-seeking, competitiveness, we look to the unhealed wounds here, especially of wars current and past. This isn’t just standard wars, but wars (disease, drugs, poverty, economic, idealisms, social, military) of all kinds that create traumas.

Chiron helps us recognize what needs to be healed in the soul/psyche through digesting our wounds. Most of civilization today hasn’t fully healed from the great wars of the past, embarking in patterns of new wars (due to the unhealed wounds) with new enemies or never-ending wars with “old” enemies.

Venus and Vesta may assist us in using more wisdom and patience rather than over-reaction, as the shadow of Aries could express itself. Mercury can contribute to this as well with a greater directional path forward and new ideas about resolving a potential toxic outcome and potential a more practical and effective communication strategy.

More will be written about this as we get closer to the Venus-Mars conjunctions on Feb 16th and March 5/6. The second conjunction will involve Pluto, especially in the lead up in the last week or February and first week of March.
